Today I would like to discuss about how to identify a business opportunity. The speaker, Sanjeev Bikhchandani, shares three stories from his life about businesses that he started and how he got the idea.
The first business idea came from observing companies competing for talent on campus. The speaker realized that a salary survey of salary offers that companies were making on campus would be a valuable resource for both students and companies.
The second business idea came from a friend who had done a summer internship at his uncle’s intellectual property law firm. The speaker learned that the trademark registry process was slow and inefficient, and he saw an opportunity to create a service that would help companies search for trademarks more quickly and easily.
The third business idea came from the speaker’s own experience working in marketing. He noticed that people were very interested in job postings, and he also noticed that many jobs were not advertised. He saw an opportunity to create a website that would aggregate job postings from all over the internet.
The speaker concludes the video by saying that successful businesses are often built on deep customer insights about unsolved problems. He encourages viewers to learn to recognize business opportunities that are all around them.
